Sworn Positions

Police Officer (Entry-Level / Lateral)

Description: Police Officers are responsible for protecting life and property, enforcing laws, preventing crime, and building positive relationships within the community.

Requirements:

Must be at least 21 years of age

U.S. citizen or lawful permanent resident

Valid driver’s license

High school diploma or GED (college degree preferred)

Successful completion of a POST-approved academy (for laterals) or ability to attend one (for entry-level

 

Professional (Non-Sworn) Positions

Public Safety Dispatcher / Communications Officer

Interested in a fast-paced, rewarding career serving your community? We’re always looking for individuals with strong communication skills and a passion for public service to join our dispatch team.

Description: Serves as the first point of contact for emergency and non-emergency calls, dispatching police and emergency personnel as needed.

Requirements:

Excellent communication and multitasking skills

Ability to remain calm under pressure

Typing proficiency and basic computer knowledge

Completion of a POST-certified Public Safety Dispatcher course (preferred)

 

Police Cadet/ Explorer

Description: An entry-level position for students or individuals interested in pursuing a law enforcement career. Assists with clerical tasks, community events, and ride-along programs.

Requirements:

Must be enrolled in high school or college

Minimum age: 14 (for Explorers) or 18 (for Cadets)

Interest in a law enforcement career
