In October 2015, California governor Jerry Brown approved Senate Bill 272 (SB272) which adds Section 6270.5 to the Government Code, relating to public records. The bill requires all local agencies to post and make available to the public a catalogue of enterprise systems.

“Enterprise Systems” means software application or computer system that collects, stores, exchanges, and analyzes information that the agency uses.
