FIELD SERVICES

The City of Bell works diligently to improve the quality of life for all residents. The County of Los Angeles Department of Animal Care and Control service is a key component of the community’s public safety program. Please contact the Downey Animal Care Center at (562) 940-6898 or Animal Control for service requests such as:

  • Rescuing sick or injured animal
  • Reuniting lost pets with their owners
  • Removing deceased animals from public areas
  • Investigating abuse and neglect

LICENSING INFORMATION

Pet owners must be in compliance with licensing, spay/neuter, and microchipping if they reside in unincorporated areas of Los Angeles County (as well as within Cities that contract with the County and who have adopted Title 10 ordinance). Residents not in compliance will be subject to license fees and delinquency charges, including a $40 field enforcement fee (to offset the cost of the Department’s field services). To avoid penalties, be sure your pet is licensed. You can secure a new dog license by printing the application online at animalcare.lacounty.gov/licensing/

License Fees, Effective July 1, 2024, Unaltered Dog: $80 Altered Dog: $30 Senior (60 years +) Owned Altered Dog: $7.50 Military Veterans with Disabilities Altered Dog: $7.50 Unaltered Cat: $15 Altered Cat: $10 Field Enforcement Fee: $40 Penalty Fee: Same as assigned license fee
