Keep Bell Clean: Summer Trash and Recycling Tips

As warmer weather brings more visitors to our parks and outdoor spaces, trash levels increase. This raises the risk of debris entering storm drains, which flow directly into local waterways. The City is required to reduce pollution from trash, including bulky items and debris. To help keep our community clean and protect our waterways, please keep the following tips in mind:

  • Keep trash bins closed to prevent litter from blowing into streets and storm drains.
  • Regularly check and clean your yard, alley, and sidewalk to stop debris from spreading.
  • Do not dump furniture, appliances, or other large items in alleys or on the street outside of designated pickup dates— this is illegal and subject to enforcement.
  • Sort waste properly: black (trash), blue (recycling), green (organics).
  • Report illegal dumping via the Bell on the Go! app or call (323) 588-6211 (Mon–Fri, 8 am–6 pm).
  • Always pick up pet waste.
  • Never sweep or blow debris into the street, gutter, or storm drains.
