Sewer Main System
The City owns and maintains approximately 37 miles of gravity sewer mains. Wastewater collected through the City's sewer collection system is transported to a collection/interceptor main owned by the Sanitation Districts of Los Angeles County, District 1.
The City contracts with qualified service providers to maintain and repair the sewer system and respond to sanitary sewer overflow emergencies. The City conducts sewer system inspections every other year, including inspections of manholes, pipes, and siphons, as well as regular cleaning and repairs. Sewer Laterals
The City does not own, maintain, or repair any portion of sewer laterals located within private property or the public right-of-way. Property owners are responsible for the maintenance and repair of sewer laterals serving their properties.
