Public Works Services & Information
The Public Works Department is responsible for maintaining and improving the City’s streets, sidewalks, signs, streetlights, traffic signals, landscaping, and other public infrastructure.
Use the service request options below to obtain information on services or to report an issue. Provide the correct report type, accurate location, a brief description of the issue(s), and a photo or video to help the City respond more efficiently.

Trash and Waste Services
Consolidated Disposal Service (CDS) is the City's franchise hauler for residential and commercial waste collection. For more information about City trash and waste services, please contact CDS at (562) 347-4000 or (800) 299-4898.
Tree Maintenance
The City maintains trees in the public right-of-way, including tree wells, parks, and parkways. To report overgrown trees that are damaging sidewalks, dead or diseased trees, fallen branches, protruding roots, or other tree-related concerns, please call (323) 923-2627 or submit a report online through Bell on the Go!: The official citizen application for Bell, CA.
Street Sweeping
Residential streets are swept once a week between 2:00 AM and 5:00 AM. Commercial streets, including Florence Avenue, Gage Avenue, and Atlantic Avenue, are swept six times a week between 11:00 PM and 5:00 AM.

Sewer Main System and Sewer Laterals
Sewer Main System
The City owns and maintains approximately 37 miles of gravity sewer main. Wastewater collected through the City's sewer collection system is transported to a collection/interceptor main owned by the Sanitation Districts of Los Angeles County, District 1.
The City contracts with qualified service providers to maintain and repair the sewer system and respond to sanitary sewer overflow emergencies. Sewer main system inspections are conducted every other year, including manholes, pipes, and siphons, as well as regular cleaning and repairs. Sewer Laterals
The City does not own, maintain, or repair sewer laterals located within private property or the public right-of-way. Property owners are responsible for the maintenance and repair of sewer laterals serving their properties.

Streetlight Repair
Streetlights are maintained by Southern California Edison (SCE). To report a broken or malfunctioning streetlight, please call (323) 923-2627 or report a streetlight issue online.
Please note that SCE may require 3 to 30 days to complete repairs.
Traffic and Signal Services
The Public Works Department monitors traffic throughout the City and adjusts traffic signal timing to help improve traffic flow. The Department also provides services related to traffic signals, signs, street name signs, pavement markings, crosswalks, and pedestrian traffic control.
