The Bell Police Department Records Bureau personnel provide a vital service to the community. Utilizing a sophisticated records management system, they are responsible for collecting, maintaining, disseminating and securing of all police reports and related records. Issuing vehicle releases and reporting criminal statistics to the Department of Justice (DOJ) and the Federal Bureau of Information (FBI). As well as providing various other vital services to the public and other government entities.

The Bell Police Department records division personnel provide assistance to the public in person and/or via telephone at 323-585-1245, Select Option #3.

Records bureau personnel can be reached during regular operating hours.

Vehicle Release Information

All vehicles which have been impounded by the Bell Police Department officers require a release to be obtained and a fee to be paid at the records division counter of the department. Some vehicles impounded can be subject to a 30-day hold.

· Vehicle release fee at Bell PD: $247.00

Towing and storage fees owed to Mr. C’s Tow are separate. Information related to fees to be paid to Mr. C’s Tow must be inquired with their office at 323-249-0575.

Police Report Information

Police report requests submitted to the Bell Police Department will be processed according to the California Public Records Act (CPRA) and many may be exempt from disclosure. Please be advised that not all requests for reports will be granted.

**Law firms and insurance companies requesting reports on behalf of their client should contact the records division personnel during regular business hours at the business line listed above, to inquire as to what they will be required to submit along with their request prior to mailing request.

First page of report: $1.00

Subsequent pages after the first page of any request. $0.25

Minimum charge for duplicating documents under any Public Records Act. $2.00

Pictures taken related to report. $6.00 per photo
